New Year's Eve 2011

NYE ..the night of high expectations..new beginnings and hope..?  As a child, I always thought that I was missing out as I watched people of all ages celebrate NYE at TS in NYC. As a girl from a very rural area I thought that it HAD to be a exciting to be there in the BIG city. The glam the fame the sense of hiarchy...not only thoughts as a child but this belief carried on through most of my adult years too..Three years ago I went to NYC on NYE and realized I hadn't been missing anything but people screaming, horns blowing, massive crowds pushing through like cattle and all for ...a countdown?.. to what..new beginnings?  ..a new life, a new start? I never understood the anticipation ..When I was there and witnessed the celebration from my perspective, I realized that happiness and celebration doesn't come from standing in the cold at the "spot" where everyone who is anyone should be on nye. (I've never been a follower, nor a leader more of a solo fl yer). so what I've learned about myself. After so many years of feeling that something was missing on NYE..I realized what had been missing was the sense of who I am, alone. Don't get me wrong it would be wonderful to have the MAN of my DREAMS on my arm somewhere in the warm carribean on NYE but I realized this year....spending the night with a great friend was all I could really ask for. I'm lucky to be 28 and happy, alone. I felt blessed this year to be around good people and know for the first time that I'm happy to be exactly where I was/am.....the perfect man and the carribean will come..until then, I think life is pretty great.....
